Levelflex M Outperforms Mechanical Level Measurement Systems (Plum Bobs) In 43 Foot High Silos

The guided radar Levelflex M FMP40 is used to measure the level in coffee storage silos. The customer has changed from mechanical systems (plum bobs) to guided radar technology to avoid maintenance problems with mechanical systems.

Application
The customer had 14 silos with mechanical plum bobs that they wanted to replace because of continuous maintenance problems. The Endress Hauser local representative gave the customer a presentation on guided radar technology (TDR - Time Domain Reflectometry) and recommended the FMP40 Levelflex for their application. A test and evaluation unit was installed in one of the silos. After the test period, the customer was satisfied with the performance of the FMP40 and ordered more instruments for the remaining silos.
