Case Study: Levelflex M FMP40, Ideal Choice For Liquid CO2 Storage

The guided wave radar Levelflex M FMP40 is used to measure the level in bullet shaped CO2 storage tanks. Reliable measurement was needed for both control and inventory purposes. Product loss due to lack of carbonation would be excessive.

Application
The customer had six 6500 gallon CO2 tanks, 4 located outdoors and 2 indoors working as buffers for production. The customer was relying on sight glasses to determine level but this was very unreliable and often resulted in a lack of carbon dioxide or over fills. Other guided radar units had been tried but with poor results. The customer wanted to use the existing nozzles on top of the tanks.
