The waterless peeler for the vegetable industry reduces peel loss, eliminates water usage in the peeling process, and improves product quality. Power to the brushes is supplied through a small, stainless steel gear running inside a large gear. The large gear is made of a special plastic impregnated with lubricant. A gear motor type of drive is used to drive the cage of rolls, using a cup belt. The two main bearings supporting the cage are constantly lubricated, whenever the machine is in operation.

Bearings on each end of the brush are tapered roller type, held in a sealed cartridge. The cartridge is pre-packed with lubricant when assembled at the factory, requiring no daily re-lubrication. Changing brushes is simple. Easy access doors are opened to remove only two bolts, which release the cartridge on the discharge end. The brush is then removed from the side. The unit is designed to peel potatoes, carrots, and onions. It will also scrub corn for chips and tortillas, garlic after pretreatment, and beets carrots, and potatoes after steam. The system can also be used to hull pistachio nuts.
