FSMA Fridays: Preventive Controls For Human And Animal Food (Part Four Of Five)

Source: Safety Chain Software

Check Out Part One, Part Two, and Part Three Of This Series

In the third portion of FSMA Fridays: Preventive Controls For Human And Animal Food, SafetyChain’s Jill Bender began handling questions from the webinar’s live audience with The Acheson Group’s Dr. David Acheson and Rolando Gonzalez. Topics included how GFSI helps with FSMA compliance as well as some tips to help your company comply with the rules. Here, in part four of the series, the trio continues the discussion by addressing where the final rules are available to view, resources that are available to help review food safety plans, identify gaps in the plan, and help food manufacturers track in the right direction toward FSMA compliance.

Jill: A couple of questions have come in that are tied together. It is really just the question “where can we see the final rules?” So people are starting to ask, “I have a specific question around those rules. I want to physically be able to see those, and there have been questions and concerns about not be able to easily access that.” David, can you advise?

David: They are on the FDA’s FSMA website. There are actually two versions of the rules, and they are the same, but I confess, I have not read both from one end to the other. One of them is the original version that came out September 17, I think it was, which is a straight, double-spaced, PDF-type file. It is 930 pages long.
