Corona's Maker Recalls Bottles For Production Error

As summer begins to wind down, Corona Extra drinkers are being asked to check their bottles and cartons prior to imbibing

The Beer Division of Constellation Brands has announced a voluntary recall of certain 12-ounce glass bottles of Corona Extra. This recall comes as a result of defective bottles received from an un-named, third-party manufacturer. The defect was discovered during routine quality inspections at the company’s Victor, NY plant.  Constellation’s quality-control lab became aware of a minor deficiency that could possibly result in small particles of glass breaking off and falling into the bottle.  No injuries have been reported; the recall is of a purely precautionary nature.

Constellation believes that less than one percent of the bottles may present a potential hazard, but is recalling the bottles in order to ensure the safety of its consumers. The Production Codes affected are:

6-Packs — The eight-digit Production Code is located on the neck of the bottle:  G014C059, G024C059, G064A059, G064C059, G074B059, G104A049, G104C049, G114C049, G124C049, and G134C049

12-Packs — The eight-digit Production Code is on the side of the carton, on the neck of the bottle pictured on the 12-pack: G024B069, G034C069, G044C069, G054B049, G054C069, G064C049, G074B049, G084B049, G214C069, G244B069, G244C069, G254C069, G264C069, G274C069, and G294B069

18-Packs — The eight-digit Production Code is above the Corona logo on the side of the cardboard carton: F294A049

Constellation is telling consumers to discard the affected bottles immediately and to contact the consumer call center at 1-866-204-9407 for a refund. The Product Codes on 12-ounce, clear, glass bottles above are the only bottles affected and none of Corona’s other brands are being recalled. Constellation’s statement, prominently displayed on their website, says it is perfectly safe to responsibly enjoy the following products:
