Through the agreement linking Tri-Clover and UHP Process Piping, Solid Pipe Designer customers can draw Tri-Clover product lines parametrically in 3D solids, enabling process system designers to produce graphically scaled representations of actual components. With the help of the system, users can determine exactly how the finished product will look.
The 3D and solid modeling makes the computer image look like a model instead of symbols, which have been more commonly used. In the past, it was up to customers to construct diagrams of the products and draw fittings based on dimensions provided by the manufacturers. The Solid Pipe Designer software program can actually walk a customer through a plant on a computer screen. This ensures interference checking, allowing problems to be caught in the early design stages rather than later in the process when changes can become costly. The result is the development of a better and less expensive plant layout. The software will create more opportunities for the industry to use models and advanced technology.
In addition to the design advantages, Tri-Clover's alliance with UHP also simplifies the ordering process. When the Solid Pipe Designer software is used to design a process plant or other facility, the specified Tri-Clover fittings, valves and pumps are described and identified by part number on a bill of material that can be used to place orders through Tri-Clover's Team 2000 distribution network.
