Modular Feeders Mark 10th Year with More Innovations

April 12, 1999

K-Tronrld's first modular feeders were introduced by <%=company%> in 1989. Since then many feeder manufacturers have joined the trend in modular design, while <%=company%> has continued to enhance and expand its modular line. Today's K2-Modular feeders offer even greater flexibility and higher accuracy, with SFT II weighing technology and the new Smart Control Module (SCM).

All K2-Modular feeders use <%=company%>'s patented Smart Force Transducer II (SFT II), which offers virtual immunity to plant vibration noise, resulting in higher accuracy feeding, even at very low feed rates. In addition, <%=company%>'s modular feeders now feature the new Smart Control Module (SCM), the first "feeder brain" in the world's first "thinking feeder system." As the feeder's "brain," the SCM is mounted directly on the feeder and knows specifically how to control that particular machine for both batch and continuous operations. The SCM offers feeder users lower cost and easier use throughout a feeder's lifecycle. Everything from reduced cost of installation, to daily operation and maintenance is easier and more economical to accomplish.

Interchangeable single screw and twin screw feeding modules are standard metering devices with the K2-Modular feeder. Vibratory, liquid and special feed modules are also available. Screw feeders feature the innovative Powersphere feeding module, a perfectly formed hemisphere that naturally promotes mass flow and eliminates the corners where material can collect. It comes with a specially designed horizontal agitator that gently moves material from front and back toward the discharge screw, providing excellent screw fill. The feeder module is available with single or twin screws and demonstrates exceptional material handling capabilities, even with difficult powders.

The feeder's Powershift feed drive, which can shift between low and high feed rate ranges, giving processors easy access to the widest possible range of feed rates. The variable ratio drive relieves processors from having to choose among several different gear boxes when they buy their feeder, a decision which then locks them into a narrow feed rate range. In today's fast changing markets, processors need the flexibility to change materials without having to change feeders. Feeders are designed for easy, fast cleaning. Interchangeable screws are designed for specific material handling characteristics. All material contact parts are 316 stainless steel.
