When under-performing metal detectors failed to meet the strict tolerances demanded by Cornfield's customers, the company found that only Lock Inspection Systems could satisfy their requirement for a wide-diameter detector with tight parameters. The sensitive Compact MET 30+ Waferthin detector commissioned by Lock is capable of detecting minuscule slivers of stainless steel, enabling Cornfields to retain its quality control standards - as well as its customers.

A co-packer for high profile multinational snack and candy companies, the Illinois based operation handles products such as candy-coated popcorn, fried and baked snack pellets, chocolate confectionery and extruded snacks. Lock specified an integrated Waferthin metal detector with a 7" aperture - the first installation of its kind. The electronics are mounted directly on the metal detector search head and accessible from a remote keypad. This saves valuable space in the scale and bagging machine and eliminates the need for a mounted enclosure, so the controls are easily accessible for operators if they need to determine or adjust the detector settings.
