Fortress ‘Gets The Mix Just Right' With Installation Of Fourth Metal Detector At Food Ingredient Manufacturer
April 19, 2010
Further underlining its commitment to developing long-term customer relationships, European leader in high performance metal detection systems Fortress Technology has recently installed a fourth Phantom metal detector at Griffith Laboratories plant in Derbyshire where it is inspecting 15kg bags of bread crumbs for contaminants.
Griffith Laboratories – manufacturer of food ingredient products - purchased its first Fortress system four years ago. This move followed instruction from its US-based parent company that the proven Fortress metal detectors were to become a global standard across the business.
Neil Turner, Engineering Manager at Griffith Laboratories says: "Having used competitor metal detectors for some time, I was initially reluctant to change supplier. However, following a demonstration by Fortress, it quickly became apparent that their machines were able to deliver on performance whilst being very simple to operate and maintain. In fact, a major plus for us was that we could easily replace parts and change the control boards ourselves without needing to call out a service engineer.
Neil continues: "That first metal detector has surpassed expectations in terms of value for money, reliability and efficiency. It never breaks down! As a result, we now have a total of four Fortress systems and any future machines will come from them too. In addition, it is a great company to do business with - offering a helpful and friendly service at all times. Nothing is too much trouble and I would 100 per cent recommend them to other food companies."
Griffith Laboratories offers a wide range of taste and texture components for the food industry around the world. Its products include seasoning blends, dry mixes, coating systems, dough blends, crumbs, flavours, sauces and food bases that are used in an extensive variety of applications from snack foods and processed meat and poultry to ready meals.
Exceptionally reliable yet easy to operate and maintain, Fortress Phantom metal detectors utilise the latest Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technology to ensure complete product integrity, the systems offer superior accuracy and speed.
Available in a wide range of aperture sizes, the machines come in a selection of construction options including painted aluminium, stainless steel and BSH (IP69K certified).
