Details

Tri-Clover Inc.ion resistance for prolonged service life is enhanced through a special line of fittings, tubing and components from Tri-Clover Inc. The line features the AL-6XN alloy that helps prevent crevice corrosion, pitting and stress corrosion cracking in demanding sanitary process applications. Composed of the highest levels of chromium, nickel and molybdenum available in the austenitic class of stainless steel alloys, AL-6XN enables extended service life and reduces the potential of, and expense related with, replacement of tubing and fittings.

AL-6XN meets ASME and ASTM specifications and is approved by the USDA for use as a food contact surface. The alloy is especially well-suited for applications involving chloride ions and heat in high acid process environments, such as the processing of salsa, barbecue sauces, condiments and saline solutions. Applications involving liquids processed at elevated temperatures that approach and exceed 200°F represent another environment where the alloy's corrosion resistant properties can enhance operating efficiency. Another common environment is clean-in-place operations where the sodium hypochlorite used in CIP solutions can lead to pitting and corrosion.

In addition to the process efficiencies afforded through the use of AL-6XN fittings and components, the alloy can also help reduce pipeline component replacement and installation costs. Additional savings are possible through reduced product loss and downtime. Tri-Clover serves as the exclusive distributor of AL-6XN for tube-based products. Tri-Clover's products featuring AL-6XN include Tri-Clamp and Tri-Weld fittings and tubing in sizes ranging from 1 in. to 3 in. Fittings are available in polished or unpolished finishes. Pumps, valves and other fittings may also be manufactured upon special request with AL-6XN on wetted parts.
